"The scene needs to be saved inside the Assets folder of your project" when saving scene
Hi, I am completely new to unity and my question may be a bit dumb so i'm sorry if this is the case.
I started with the survival shooter tutorial and i just cannot save my scene : basically all i did was creating a new scene and saving it, nothing more. I get the following message : "The scene needs to be saved inside the assets folder of your project" but the folder i was trying to save it in WAS the assets folder. I don't really understand the meaning of this.
Thanks by advance :)
Right click the project tab then click show in explorer.
The easiest way seems to be to download the tutorial from the Unity Asset Store (a new version of the Shooter tutorial was released on $$anonymous$$ay 2, 2018). Then create a new project in your preferred directory and import the downloaded tutorial in the Unity editor from Window>Asset Store or Ctrl+9 in Unity 2018.1.

I ran into the same issue as well. What I did is closed down the window and then it asked me if I wanted to keep or discard the project. Click "keep" and it should automatically save the project in the documents section of your computer. Now re-open the unity application, you project should show up in the dashboard. Open it and then try saving the scene again. It worked for me

Hey guys, I had the same problem. Initially, I created my project directly in the "Users" folder (I am working on a mac). And, I first named it "InterfaceÜbersicht". Then I figured either the name (maybe because of the "Ü") or the location I saved the project to was causing the problem. So first I did was to create a new folder "Unity" within my folder "Documents". There I created a new Unity project, using a name without any special characters, in my case "TestProject". Within this project I was able to save my scenes.
Great! I can verify that excluding special characters (Å in my case) in the project name solves this issue for me too. Thanks @DeeDeeDee !

The Problem is that when the leaning project loads, it loads to a folder you can't directly save to, which means you can't save assets there. The only way to fix is to MANUALY move the file, from where it is to where you can open it and then open it.

I am running through the same problem.. it is in the Assets folder as far as the folder explorer, but i don't have an Assets Folder in the Project Window, neither a Favorites tab..! I don't know why!
But for the mean time, i found that if you go the Project Window->Create->Scene.. An empty scene will be created.. You can work on that until someone gives us the real solution.
