Why is the editor navigation so choppy?
Every unity version, has this issue, even on fresh new projects and such. Very choppy, jittery navigation(scene view). Heavy stutter. Comparing it to Unreal, it feels very underwhelming to use. It wont even respond properly when i change the navigation keys.
And no its not about computer specs , the editor has 300+ fps , but it stutters, and skips updating . I mean I can run Unreal scenes smoothly and those scenes even have post fx running in thr scene too! Strange ,it works smoother if I play a video in the background of unity ( something related to how unity handles updates in editor). The game runs just fine when in play mode. Windows fresh install too, along with unity fresh install and fresh new project( a cube and a plane). It used to not do that back in the days of 5.2.
$$anonymous$$ake sure your anti-virus has the unity files, and your project folders excluded from real-time scanning.
You know whats strange? The editor is much smoother if I let a video play in the background. . It has some issues updating the scene view propely. .
That strikes me as a driver issue somehow, though I don't think I could specify WHY if pressed. So don't press me, just update your video drivers ;)

Nice and smooth for me, what are your computer specs ?
8 gb ram , i5 4460 , gtx 950. Its not about the Pc. Unreal has higher requirements and still has a perfectly smooth scene navigation.
Weird I have never had trouble with it being choppy and according to you it has nothing to do with the hardware meaning it's unity but then why is it not laggy for me :/
