Camera transform inexplicably locked, screen shake not working
I've been building a game for a few months and recently have been putting some finishing touches on it. About a week ago I wrote a camera shake script that I liked and seemed to work well. Yesterday, I was working on an unrelated script but noticed that the camera shake wasn't working anymore. While I was expecting something to be wrong with a script somewhere I noticed that if I tried to change any of the camera's transform values or its orthographic size in the editor while the game was running, none of the edits would be accepted and the camera would not update. I thought the issue then had to do with the animator system (I have camera movement controlled by animator clips) but after deleting some of the clips (just to see if this would help) the problem still persists. The camera is 'locked' into whatever value it has when I hit run and those values can't be changed through the editor or by scripts. Help!
I just tried something: while the game was running, I turned off the animator component that has all of the animation clips that control the camera. Sure enough, the screen shake effect worked when cued when the animator was off.
I guess my question is now, how do I get back to where the camera's values could be edited when the animator was on?
