I have over 1000 cubes as static prefabs following my player,How to optimize to get a high FPS?

I'm afraid I don't quite understand the question. If the cubes are static, how are they following the player?

Why exactly do you need that many cubes? You won't really be able to make the game go very fast with that many objects in the scene. (In fact, I'm pretty sure it's going downright slow.)

Honestly, 1000 cubes isn't that many- that's only about 12000 faces :P... I just don't know why!

If they don't move relative to eachother, you could combine them all into one mesh to save on draw calls. If performance is that big of an issue, is there any reason why you can't just fake it with a particle effect? while 1000 meshes can make quite a performance hit, 1000 particles are well optimised and render very efficiently.
