When will Unity be fixing its bugs affecting servers with a high number of CPU Cores?
Hey guys. I run a server over at Hurtworld and after the last patch, which included one of the more recent Unity updates.... my server and several other servers started lagging hard - with pings of 500+ for everyone who tried to join. After weeks of troubleshooting with server host and game devs, I was told that the issue had been pinned down to a bug caused by Unity's update, which I guess for some reason causes lag on servers with a high number of cores. Since my host (which offers very good pricing and customer service, therefor I do not want to switch) is not able to reduce the number of cores on servers this has rendered my server useless for well over a month now! I am going to be forced to shut my server down soon if it's not fixed.
I have waited very patiently and have not received any new word from game devs, so I am hoping to at least get some more info regarding this from the good folks over at Unity.
Further description of the issue (as from what I can see) 1) CPU Usage is very erratic, jumping between 0% and 20%. From past experience I know this is normally stable at 0% to 3%. 2) When these jumps happen, it correlates with extreme lag on server. Ping can jump to over 800 at times. This occurs every few seconds 3) In game performance is extreme rubber banding, position resetting, delayed input, and chat lags by up to 10 seconds.... or your message never gets sent at all. 4) These issues seem to only begin once server is updated to the most recent client of Hurtworld.
Please guys, I really need to know when this is going to get fixed. I really hope the game devs aren't bluffing me and that you already are aware of the issue.
