How can I build an object with empirical data on simulating the behaviour of a pendulum?
Basically, I want to be able to predict how long a pendulum will take to reach the lowest point, from any other point.
Since calculating this would require huge amounts of calculations (and very complicated formulae), I would prefer to take an empirical approach: I would simulate and store lots of data on velocity and angle.
Basically, I want to time how long it takes, at every angle, for a velocity of say 1, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 and so on.
What kind of object should I create for that? Would it be a separate file?
Hey there, before you dive too far into this you should think about if this will result in something that is acutal useful to you. Probably the only thing that will be slowing down your pendulum will be the intern drag of the physics system. Which is adjustable and can be set to a value that results in a certain desired outcome. But that outcome does not have to be something that actually reflects real world behaviour. Especially not on an accurate level. If you actually want kind of accurate values you should do real world experiments and use them to get a drag value from this or just dig in the calculation.
