character sliding down in stairs
Hello everyone!
I'm coming here because I have a issue with my character and physics/colliders.
my character have a capsule collider and a rigidbody attached on it.
if the collider of my stairs is flat, the character begin to slide down when I stop moving it.
I can use drag in my rigidbody parameters to prevent this to happen, but it causes my character to fly over the stairs when I'm going down the stairs (and it makes unrealistic slow-mo when my character is falling).
The mass of the rigidbody do not change anything.
if I use a stairs-shape collider the character often go through the collider or bumps into the stairs when climbing them, sometimes it works depending of the mesh but not always. Anyway I'd rather use a flat collider and just prevent my character to slide down because I don't like the jerky effect of climbing steps.
Also, I'm using transform.translate, not rigidbody.addforce to move my character around. It's my main character and I want it to perfectly respond on commands and do not rely on physics (for what I see the problem is not linked and it could be just more trouble to make my character moving with addforce)
Thank you all.

You could try to add a physic material to the stairs with a high friction
Hi jni97! thanks, I'll try that this afternoon and come back to you, for what I have read it does not seem to be a bad idea.
Awesome! That is exactly the kind of effect I was looking for, thank you very much
