Tank Tutorial problems with Unity 5.5.1

I completed the Tank tutorial. The first image is an error that I receiving. I believe that the MessageCanvas can not translate the color values(Unity5.5.1) alt text . Is there a way to fix this?

The second image is from the Mixer that I completed. The mixer would not let me rename them. Is there a way around this. I used the colors to help me finish the tutorial, but it is rather confusing. Any suggestions as to work around this? alt text
