Lighting is different in build compared to editor? (Auto vs manual build)

All,

I'm coming close to completing my first unity project, so I'm still relatively unsure on all features and settings.

Basically my lighting seems to be all over the place. Since it is meant to be a dark game, I have spent most of my time in the editor with the scene lighting toggled off so I can see what I'm building.

When I press play, the resulting in game lighting is different depending on whether or not I have the build set to 'auto' or not in the lighting settings. I have included screenshots of this.

When auto is not selected, my scene is very bright, and some objects appear completely black in the game. This is also how the game builds no matter whether auto is selected or not. To be clear, I want my lighting to display as it plays when the auto is selected

I am entirely lighting the scene with point lights with the free version of unity.

Any ideas?
