Copying Unity Cloth Component to a new Mesh Problems
So what I'm trying to do is a little weird and specific but hopefully someone can help:
I've set up some scripts that allow me to piece together saved meshes that are pieces of a whole model. These pieces are instantiated from the Resources folder, each one with the complete model rig, and then put through a skinned mesh renderer combiner that just takes the skinned mesh renderer and creates new objects from them, that then parents these new objects to a single rig so that they can all animate fluidly and cut down on objects and mesh data in the scene. I've even got a script set up that can copy certain components from the Resources object to the new rig parented mesh.
All of that stuff works fine. The problem comes in specifically when trying to copy a cloth component over to the new mesh object. The cloth component works fine on the original object in the Resources folder but when the component is copied, there's some really janky physics behavior that I can't quite figure out. My component copier is carrying over all the data just fine and when I check the vertices after hitting Edit Constraints, it seems that data is fine too. The other odd thing is that the original instantiated mesh from the Resources folder is fine, it has something to do with copying the cloth component to a new object but I'm not sure what it is.
I'm not sure if there's some other element of the Cloth Component that I'm missing here. Does anyone know a bit more about the Cloth Component than I do that might cause this behavior? It doesn't seem like it's a scripting problem unless there's some element of the cloth component that I need to specify that I'm unaware of.
Thanks!
