Can Apex 7000 Bill Acceptor access via Unity ?

  I am developing one game application in which I need a connection of Unity and Apex 7000 Bill Acceptor. So I am using RS232 and API of Apex 7000. I want to recognize what amount of money I have inserted in Bill Acceptor and calculate the total from Unity side. 
 Is there any way how can I  connect it and what should I need to code to work ?
