More correct way to insert Bacgrounds into a 2.5D video game?
Hi all! I am developing a 2.5d platformer videogame and I want to decorate many of its levels with a background consisting of images of trees, mountains etc.
The reason for my question is that I do not know exactly the best way to show them, at first I used planes, with a material that used the images that interested me but this was expensive because it had a considerable impact on performance,
later I used Sprites, and the performance has gone up a lot and I think it's a good solution, since the camera is in perspective, not orthogonal, the parallax effect is automatically generated
The only problem I find is that these sprites are huge and are far from the camera and although I'm not sure I see that there is probably a more appropriate solution, I have watched tutorials, but none of these funds in 2.5d videogames, with the camera in "perspective" projection.
I just want you to tell me if I'm using a good method to show these backgrounds or is there something more appropriate and efficient, in terms of performance.
Thank you for your attention.
