Wwise Integration in Unity?

I am a student in sound design and am working on the sound for a game being developed in Unity. I know that there has been some discussion on how to integrate FMod builds into Unity, but for several reasons, I would much prefer to use Wwise than FMod (I would use FMod as a last resort - at least, using some sort of Audio Engine, I would have more control over the final mix, whereas I am otherwise relying on the game designers to handle the audio implementation, which is obviously NOT ideal....but I would absolutely prefer to use Wwise, if at all possible)

The game designers have stated that they are open to integrating Wwise, but they aren't too familiar with Wwise: "As long as there aren't any compatibility issues (that we cant work around) between Wwise and integration into our Unity-developed game, we should be fine."

Therefore, I thought that if I looked into the issue on my own I might be able to persuade the game designers to use Wwise. If anyone can offer any insight into Wwise integration with Unity, that would be extremely helpful! While I don't have even the most basic understanding of Unity, I could at least pass on the information to the game design team.

Thank you for any help with this issue!

Audiokinetic made a Windows Wwise plugin for Unity. See http://www.audiokinetic.com/en/products/wwise/integration . It's still a bit new, but it works.
