i cant acces the navmesh surface

i am using this component: https://github.com/Unity-Technologies/NavMeshComponents and i am following this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FkLJ45Pt-mY&t=19s

i want to update the navmesh in game, but i cant access the navmeshsurface in script. and in the tutorial he can do it very easy with:

public NavMeshSurface surface;

but is doenst work for my. plzz help :)
