using coroutine with fixedupdate and time.
so... i will try to explain what im trying to do.
i want to create a way to make "yield" to wait "X" seconds inside a coroutine.
they way i tryed to accomplish this, was:
IEnumerator shoot()
{
for (;;)
{
yield return WaitForSecondsInFixedUpdate(0.2f);
shootBullet();
}
}
public IEnumerator WaitForSecondsInFixedUpdate(float time)
{
float loops = (time / 0.02f);
for (int vlr = 0; vlr < loops; vlr++)
{
yield return new WaitForFixedUpdate();
}
}
so in my bullethell game, the ship would shoot those in that interval for the purpose that the shot must align perfectly without delay. the first coroutine is for begin the shooting, and keep shooting, and the second coroutine is a yield return.
through checking this out, the bullet patterns seems to fail to align. there is 2 problems here.
first: when the WaitForFixedUpdate() execute for the first time, it dosnt wait exactly 0.02 seconds, it waits less than that, probably because the first WaitForFixedUpdate() happens in the middle of a FixedUpdate timer.
second: i think in the line "yield return WaitForSecondsInFixedUpdate(0.2f);" when its done, it returns as soon as a normal Update happens, so this can took more than 0.2 seconds to run, since the next update could happen 0.1 seconds after the yield returns.
so, the thing is, i want to create something that i can pass a time value inside the "shoot()" coroutine, that says: "wait 0.8 seconds to shoot again using fixed updates" for my bullet patterns to work.
yes i could do something like this:
yield return new WaitForFixedUpdate();
yield return new WaitForFixedUpdate();
yield return new WaitForFixedUpdate();
yield return new WaitForFixedUpdate();
but using this in ALL my ship shootin scripts, would quickly become a huge mess... (works, but messy and tiring...), so i tryed to create a method with a yield return to return whem 0.8 seconds passed for example...
sorry for the long explanation... i could not make a better way to explain what im trying to do...
I'm having the exact same question right now. Have you come up with a solution? Thanks!
