Why does UI Text look really bad in Screen Overlay Canvas
I'm on Unity 5.4.0f3 - building to iOS...
None of the threads relating to similar issues have helped me... the image i've posted is with standard Arial font - it is the full width of an iPhone5s screen - so that's 640 pixels - and it looks like this :( ...
I've shown the canvas setup here... and i've tried every combination of scaling up and down the Text fields and Font sizes(In this case font size is 128 and it's scaled down)...it always looks just as bad. I've tried importing another Arial ttf - making an editable copy of its Ascii characters - and using that instead - looks pretty much the same. It's a pretty old project and I'm just adding some of the new UI to it now... not sure if that's relevant.
I've tried increasing the Reference Resolution... it gets a bit better but still very bitty and not nice looking

I just tried with new project and your settings (Unity 5.5.0) and seems to work just fine. Try to remove all UI elements and recreating them and if that doesn't work I would try to make what you need in new project to see if it works there. Also I would use higher reference resolution to get shard text.
