Avoid importing all objects from a *.blend file
As far as I understand there isn't a way to filter blender imported objects by layer (meaning, according to the layer definitions in the blend file).
For example, I have an armature that uses custom shapes. Although it appears that custom shapes are still visible in armatures (in Blender) after deleting the original objects (and several workarounds could be used to avoid deleting the custom shape objects) this is somewhat inconvenient.
Overall there are countless instances where I would like to selectively import from in a *.blend file from being imported.
I noticed that, even objects that are...
Disabled in 3D view
Disabled in render
...always get imported. In other words I cannot see any way that we can prevent objects from being imported, other than deleting.
Can it be done?
If you are talking Lights and Camera, delete them from the Blender Scene before export or deselect the blue button in the Export screen. You will need to export as FBX to achieve this.
