Sprite Compression General
I'm a programmer working with an artist that is sending me sprite sheets. To get them to not look pixilated I have to up the max size to like 4096 (this is one sprite, think side-scroller character for reference example). In the inspector this goes from 1MB->7MB, though I'm not certain if there is a compression step on build. I'm also not certain, but I think part of the problem might be he is sending me the art in 15x2 sprite sheet, instead of say 5x3 which would be more square. My questions: 1) is a squareish sprite sheet (5x3 images) more optimized then a rectangular one (15x2 images) 2) will Unity compress these sprites 3) is selecting 4096 going to greatly decrease performance, especially considering possible mobile applications.
Thanks allot in advance for your answer.
