newly downloaded Unity fails to start 'PowerPC applications no longer supported'
I downloaded the latest Unity 5.34 for osx and installed it on my macbook pro (mid 2009) with 2.53Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo chip running osx 10.11 (El Capitan). When I try to launch the app, I get an error message saying "You can't open the application "Unity.app" because PowerPC applications are no longer supported".

The answer turned out to be simply moving the Unity folder out of the Applications directory. I put it on the root of the hard drive and it worked fine. Had to restart a few times while it seemed to sort things out, but eventually it worked.
