Object in Scene not in Hierarchy [Solved]

I have run up on some sort of phantom sprite or gameobject in the scene view that is visible in the game that I cannot select and is not visible in the hierarchy. It is a placeholder obstacle I have made for my game; however, I did not place this one here. (The bright green triangles that jut into the game window)

alt text

In trying to find this object in the hierarchy I discovered that it is not there at all. I've disabled everything in the hierarchy and yet it remains.

alt text

The only other siting of this problem I have seen is here: http://answers.unity3d.com/questions/677914/cant-remove-gameobject-from-scene-in-editor-not-ap.html

It seems to be the same problem; however, the solution requires I use an Editor Script which I do not know how to do.

So I guess my question is, how do I use an Editor Script? Is there any other way to solve this problem?

Any help is appreciated thanks!

Did you read @Bunny83's answer? "Just place it in your project's editor folder: /Assets/editor/HiddenObjectExplorer.cs You can open the window by clicking "Tools/HiddenObjectExplorer"".

That's it.

Wow now I feel stupid. I didn't realize I had to create the editor folder in my Assets folder. I'll post a solution anyhow. Thank you for responding.

Alright now I feel stupid for asking this question but I'll write the solution here for anyone that runs into the same problem. You have to go to your Assets folder and create a new folder titled Editor. Create a new c# script in this folder titled HiddenObjectExplorer and copy and paste this editor script created by @Bunny83. Now go up to Tools and click HiddenObjectExplorer. A new window should pop up. Uncheck HideInHierarchy for anything that should not be hidden.

You can delete any objects from here, but I recommend you go back to the hierarchy to delete anything only because the HiddenObjectExplorer delete buttons are fairly close to each other and you might accidentally delete something you didn't mean to. But once that's done you should be good!

I've fixed the link. Dropbox has completely "dropped" their public folder support. Now you have to explicitly create a share-link for every single file seperately.

Don't feel stupid. This Unity feature (hide in hierarchy) is stupid. It's inherently prone to confusing situations like this.

Hi @raoufhachemi, Today i had the same situation and nothing helped. What actually hlped is turning on 'UI Toolkit Live Reload' option. Just click those three dots on hierarchy panel and those options will appear. I hope so this will also help to you. Cheers, Kamil alt text
