Trying to make a click-and-point kind of thing for an escape game.
I'll be very honest here. I need to do this for a college project. Our teacher was supposed to guide us through this process since we have absolutely 0 experience with Unity or any other game engine and I have never written a line of code before, apart from the super simple exercises we have made in class. But we are two weeks away from our deadline and I have no idea how to get this done.
Our game is a escape room 3d game with an inventory of items. We got a 3d enviroment and stuff and a friend has helped me creating an inventory. Right now I can only walk through the scenery and pick up objects into my inventory, then dropping them out again.
I'm trying to do basic escape game action: click on an object (let's say an empty bottle) , have that selected from my inventory, click on another object in the enviroment (let's say a jar full of water) and with that, make something happen (let's say, now I have a filled bottle in my inventory).
Also, by the same process, get a key, and then from my inventory, use it on a chest to open it. and so on.
I know this must be essential but I literally have no idea and I'm having so much trouble finding any sources or guides to look at. I will be so thankful with anything you can tell me. Whether it is other tutorials, scripts, anything. Since I literally have nothing.
