Why isnt the Unity tutorial working for me?
I just got Unity and am ready to plunge into the world of game developement. I have already completed all of the basic training tutorials, I and am trying to complete the "John Lemon's Haunted Jaunt" tutorial (which is where my problem is). I have followed the instructions in this page as closely as I can, but I have found an issue. On the second chapter of the tutorial (this one), step 2.7 tells me to "Click the Play button in the toolbar to enter Play Mode," but when I try to do this the scene window displays a message stating that "all compiler errors have to be fixed before you can enter play mode!" I not only am oblivious to what a compiler error is, but am also confused on how such an error could appear or be fixed since all I have done is strictly follow the provided instructions. I know almost nothing about Unity, and what I do know is only from the basic training tutorials and nothing more. I just want to know how I can solve this issue and continue with the tutorial. Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you!

Hello @complexpig
First, if some error apears in Unity Console, and IT is related to a script. You can doubleclick the error line and will show you the line in code that is producing it.
Also, if you read the code, it wil lsay where it is. Which script and the lien number.
"all compiler errors have to be fixed before you can enter play mode" means there is some error (normaly sintaxys) in your script.
Check if you forget some " ; " or some parentesis or something liek this. Normally, if you forget sone syntaxys element, the error wil lsays the doesnt exepcted the next thig it finds.
Good luck!
PS: If you are commencing, you should go to watch and practice with basic scripting.
Thank you for the help and tips! Now I should be able to get back into learning Unity.

I'm having the same issues. FYI, I just downloaded a fresh copy of it and have done nothing to the factory scripts. Anybody have a specific fix for this?
