Good way to convert an int to a string each frame?
If I need to update a score to a UIText each frame in Update, I have to convert it from an int to a string, which then gets garbage collected. Is there a better way? (My score is the players distance from the startposition, starting with 0 and incrementing.)
Should I make a static const array with all the numbers stored as strings. How far can I go with that? Up to 10,000? Should I make the array in a for loop in the start method?
Should I leave it as it is? Ignore the 90 bytes garbage-collected each frame, maybe it isn't noticeable? (Developing for mobile.)
Current code: UIText.text = score.ToString();
I would be thankful for some help and tips!
Update the text only when the score changes. That should reduce the garbage significantly.

As @doublemax said, update it only when the score changes.
"But the score is the distance and the distance increases each frame."
Okay, but you don't need to update those annoying floating numbers.
You could do something like that:
int score = Vector3.distance(player.position, startPosition);
if (score >= myCurrentScore + 1)
{
myCurrentScore = score;
UIText.text = score.ToString();
}
