Question by Oceankoh · Dec 06, 2016 at 05:24 AM · renderingscalinggpurealisticdx11

Does the scaling of 3D objects in unity have an impact on its realism?

I'm having trouble making my scene look realistic. Wondering if the scale my objects would affect how it looks. Can't test this as Unity crashes when I try scale up objects. I'm also currently running a DX 10.1 GPU. Will upgrading to a DX 11 GPU help in making the scene look more realistic?

Thanks in advance.

DX11 GPU will provide newer shader compatibility so you'll get some joy there but before upgrading I'd consider what 'realism' effects you are really missing and see if there are solutions. Scaling objects up can make textures loose their crispness.

Could you list out some important variables that could add to the realism of and object?

Start with good models and high quality textures that give Shaders things to do. Give the scene a feeling of consistency, then add advanced camera/post effects for visual impact. Use good lightmapping/probes/particles. Google for many more.
