How to open a dwg file which is basically a autocad format file
Can i open a dwg file in unity3d direct means i have 100 autocad files format these files are dwg i want to load them in unity3d. Can we write some kind of plugin ? any guess
If it is a proprietary format that we don't support I don't think there is much you can do. Can you convert them to fbx?
Not likely. The DWG format is proprietary to Autodesk, binary in nature, not publicly documented, and changes every few years. You'd be much better off converting your DWG files to DXF format - which is publicly documented and not too difficult to roll your own reader for at least the basics.
AutoCAD is a tool that creates DWG (Drawing file.) There is nothing like AutoCAD file it is simply denoted by this name like .doc file is denoted by Word file. The DWG files can be easily open in AutoCAD tool. You can view the contents of DWG in AutoCAD if it is not corrupt, else you need to repair it with AutoCAD Recovery tool. Corrupt DWG file fails to open and it needs to be repaired before viewing.
