Cloth Trampoline and 3rd Person Character

Hi All,

I am trying to build a cloth trampoline for my character. I succeded in doing it with a sphere (the sphere falls over the cloth, the cloth deforms down and up and the sphere bounces), but when I susbtitute the sphere with the preset 3rd Person Character, it just falls through it, not colliding with the cloth. Any suggestions?

That's because the 3rd Person Character doesn't use the standard rigidbody physics system. Instead, it uses something called a Character Controller and isn't affected by cloth physics.

You'll have to find another system for simulating a trampoline or use a different method for your character that uses the standard physics system.

Elliot, how could I implement that different method? I am using the default 3rd Person Character. I have been trying to change the "3rd Person Controller" script without success...

Well, it's not a problem with the controller script, it's the type of physics system that the 3rd Person Character uses. Have a look at the script reference (http://unity3d.com/support/documentation/ScriptReference/) and do some research on how to implement rigidbody characters (ie google it) and if you have any problems implementing a rigidbody controller, ask here for help.

Elliot, I am quite lost about how to implement the rigidbody on my default 3rd Person Character. What should I do that would require the $$anonymous$$imum changes to the preset?

I'm afraid there's nothing you can do that would require $$anonymous$$imum changes. If you want to do this, you'll have to jump right into it (pardon the pun), do a bunch of research, and figure out how to implement it on your own. You can start by having a look at http://unity3d.com/support/documentation/Components/class-Rigidbody.html.

Luis,

How do you do to bounce the ball with the cloth? I have tried and the ball go across it.

Regards, Jordi
