Accounts/Databases Solution
I am currently designing an online game in Unity, and wonder about my options in saving account data. The data would be quite simple, as in account credentials, rank/experience of the account, and which characters the account had "unlocked". I have searched of many answers, and most have suggested XML for client side, but weren't specific as to which option is best for NON client side option. The only thing I have heard is to write information to a PHP file and have a server read from that file--however, the implementation with Unity would be what I am looking for. I am new to implementing databases in Unity and am ignorant to successful solutions for any of my requirements, but I ought to mention some attributes of my game, related to recorded information...
The game will not have to transfer a lot of information.
The game will not have to transfer information in "real time"--the only information that is recorded is if a player won/lost, and how much experience their account achieved.
Don't make your backend in Unity. Unity is designed for frontend applications, not as a webserver. Personally I would suggest Node+$$anonymous$$ySQL. Quite easy to learn and really easy to set up.
