Imported Assets Can't Be Used
I'm starting out learning Unity and following a video tutorial. I followed the person's instructions exactly in the video. I downloaded assets from a website and imported them. I can view the assets in Unity, but I'm unable to use them. When I try to drag them to the scene, my cursor is the circle with the diagonal line through it. The instructions I followed starts at 1:36 in this video https://youtu.be/zwNGjS_1Lxk?t=1m36s I have the latest version of Unity. Windows 10.
Is there something I'm missing?
And I also included a picture of what looks different in mine compared to the tutorial. http://i.imgur.com/0mfGD0W.png There's an additional icon in the tutorial video that I don't have. I also do not have Photoshop if that is important.
Thanks for any help.
I also just realized that my assets don't have transparency either by looking at the imported icon.
it seam seems you started off with a 3D project while the guy uses a 2D one. difference is the default import setting for images. select yours and change it to sprite in the import settings. for changing the default switch to 2D under Edit -> Project Settings -> Editor (I think)
I ended up deleting the project and starting from scratch, and it seems to be working. But I'll definitely remember that for next time.
