What's the difference between Lightning (TAB) and Directional Light (gameobject)

Although this May sound silly question but I have to ask I'm trying to understand how to control or display the shadow of any character (Object)

My current scene doesn't seem to display any shadow alt text

There are 2 ways of lighting the scene as far as I'm aware. Baked and Realtime (you can use both btw).


Baked lighting

Basically is like a lighting texture (light map) on top of already existing object textures that is calculated (created (baked)) only once. It cannot change over time. Only static objects are affected. It's used in situations where the shadows don't need to move, like buildings, windows, etc.


Realtime lighting

Affects non static (your character) and static objects. Shadows and lighting change according to movement, calculations are executed constantly. It looks simpler.


For what you want to achieve, realtime lighting is necessary, as shadows need to update constantly. This link leads to the unity documentation on types of light (realtime). https://docs.unity3d.com/Manual/Lighting.html

Thank you for the explanation unfortunately this does not resolve my issue why I do not have any shadow on the scene I'm making Android Game as far as I've read real time shadow are more expensive
