How to make a functioning lantern in 2D
I am making a 2d game that revolves around the player exploring and using their lantern to see in the dark. All I have managed was to attach a 2D Point light to my player, but I want a lantern that can be picked up, then triggers the light, and I would like the flame to die out after a certain amount of time, (the lantern running out of fuel). Players should also be able to blow out candle willingly and relight the flame if they have fuel. This is essential because once the flame is dead, monsters emerge from the dark and start to attack the player. I am trying to make a game where players must manage their resources (fuel) to strategically explore the environment and said exchange said fuel with different variations. PLEASE HELP! I am a beginner !!
