Physics colliders don't follow animation
So I'm having a really weird problem. I have some enemies with ragdolls and hitboxes, right? And they animate all normally as per the code and animation state machine, but I noticed that sometimes they wouldn't hit the player when their knives make contact. I tried debugging this as an OnTriggerEnter problem forever, but there's something funky I found when I discovered the Physics Debugger.
The first image here is me just hitting play and letting them work. Hitboxes are attached just fine and there are no issues with hit detection. The second one though, the hitboxes stay with the GameObject root and don't hit the player because they're too far back. I could probably figure this out as a problem with roots and whatnot, but it's acting completely random. I didn't change anything between the two screenshots besides hitting play and then exiting over and over. Each time it starts it seems to work fine or just not work at all. Sometimes the hitboxes jitter between the two locations. What gives?
Someone already posed the solution of changing the animation controller update mode to Animate Physics, but all that does is send them spinning around seemingly at random. They're upside down in this picture:
