Mouse looks still works in Pause menu Unity 5.3

Hello

I am not completely new to Unity. my problem is my coding skills are not yet where i would like them to be at. I did a tut on youtube for making a pause menu : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGRXb4ghDws

After following the tut and using the code, my game paused as it should, but when I move the mouse to select a button in the pause menu, my game looks around at the same time.

I have been trying for nearly 5 hours now to try find a solution to the problem, but nothing seems to work at all.

This is my code so far:

using UnityEngine; using System.Collections; using UnityEngine.UI; using UnityEngine.SceneManagement; using UnityStandardAssets.Characters.FirstPerson;

public class PauseScript : MonoBehaviour { GameObject PauseMenu; bool paused; bool muted; [SerializeField] Text mutetext;

 void Start () 
 {
     paused = false;
     PauseMenu = GameObject.Find ("PauseMenu");

 }
 
 // Update is called once per frame
 void Update () 
 {
     
     if (Input.GetKeyDown (KeyCode.Escape))

     }    
     if (paused) {
         PauseMenu.SetActive (true);
         Time.timeScale = 0;
         //GameObject.Find ("player").GetComponent<FirstPersonController> ().enabled = false;  //This line doesn't work at all.
         //GetComponent<UnityStandardAssets.Characters.FirstPerson.FirstPersonController>().enabled = false; // This line doesn't work at all.
     
     }

Any help would be greatly appreciated, You can alter my code to show me what you changed.
