what are rigged models?
What they should be used for?
Are they used in Unity OR in 3ds Max...?
Please Can someone clarify...!!?

well, read up on bones, and skinned mesh in Unity - just go to the doco!

A rigged model is a model with a "skeleton" into it, used to make it move. It is used in max (or maya..) (to create animations) AND on unity(to "play" animations).
in systems like Cheetah3d, $$anonymous$$aya etc you can add "inverse kinematic" rigs .. and indeed other sort of rigs, constraints and stuffs.
generally Unity DOES NOT respect these other aspects of rigs ..
ONLY the bones
