How to display character in inventory? Please help
Hi I want to be able to display a character model in the players inventory. So when the inventory button is pressed (Q for example) the inventory UI will pop up showing the actual items and text inventory on one side, the a model of a character on the right. We also want this character model to show what armor the player has on, so it needs to update in the inventory whenever a piece of armor or clothing is put on or swapped. How will I be able to display a character model into the inventory, how would i get it to update the armor he is wearing when swapped and currently wearing, and does it matter what the poly count of the model is? I have a model around 12k polys or so, would that be okay since the model will not be in-game and playing? I might either make the model sit still or have a small idle animation. Thanks
I have the same question. Any luck since asking this?

Hello,
I created a youtube tutorial just for this, here is the URL: https://youtu.be/6jqnqqUWfx0
This tutorial displays the actual character rather than a clone that you've made, so it will display the exact clothes it is wearing as well as all of it's animations. If you don't want this you can always set the display to be of a clone, and it should be fairly easy since the programming in the video is modularized and you'll be able to easily change the target of the display. I wouldn't worry about the poly count so long as it's within a reasonable amount for the game you are designing. The tutorial teaches raycasting through a UI render texture, rotating the character, clicking on the character, and lighting for the character.
I hope this helps!
EDIT: I'm aware that there is no audio for the first 5 minutes of the video but that shouldn't affect the actual tutorial. I'm going to fix it.
EDIT 2: It's now fixed.
