Realign transform/model

I've imported a model that seems to be modeled in a diagonal direction. I'm not sure if what I'm saying make any sense. In other words, if I want to move the model on a straight road I would use Vector3(0.4, 0, 0.6) instead of Vector3.forward so it seems as if the model drifting.

Is there any way to re align or rotate that model?

Personally, I would just open it up in a 3D Modeling package and fix it. If you're unable to do that, you could parent it to a 'dummy' game object with zero'd out transforms, and adjust the transform on the mesh itself so that when you move the character, you're actually moving the 'dummy'.

The better solution is to fix the model, dont' work with crap :P
