Tree Creator and Leaf color variation - Is it possible?

Is it possible to have color variation of the leaves on Tree Creator trees using the terrain editor? Or is this only a speedTree feature? I dont get it to work with my own trees (am I missing an option when creating them?) but it works for the standard speedTrees.
