2D Sprite in a 3D World
Hello,
I have a 2D character in a 3D world that swings a 3D sword. The camera is perspective. In the scene view, the sword correctly swings around the 2D player. However, in the game view, the swing is either entirely in front the character or behind the character, depending on their Z axis to each other. I have tried making the project 2D and 3D, I have tried fiddling with the image and camera, but nothing I do seems to change this issue; one object is always covering another. I have also tried adding this 2D image as a texture on a Quad, but I'm still seeing the same behavior.
I would've thought in a 3D project with a Perspective camera, a Quad, and a 3D sword swing, the sword object would correctly orbit the "2D" quad, but this is not the case. Does anyone have any idea as to why the game view (camera view) isn't showing what the scene view is showing and why the sword doesn't correctly orbit in front and behind the character?
Thanks in advance, Mr.Muffles
