Question by d3st1ny33 · Dec 08, 2015 at 01:24 AM · parentbugsmain cameraorigin

is this a bug? parented camera origin changing parent origin

the model for the scene was small so i scaled down character controller, navmesh steps etc to work properly however i am trying to center the player camera and it is acting strange i center the collider and character controller radius to the origin of the player. then go to the child camera and move it back to match i go back and BOOM the origin moved and my colliders are no longer centered to the scene view origin... is this a bug ? i looked for a way to move the actual camera origin closer but there seems to be no documentation or setting for that. like it is seriously anoying go try it, make a object, tie the camara, set a collider for referance on the main object. move the cameras origin 5000, look at the sceneview origin of the parent object and see how far away it is from the colliders.

am i missing something? are they somehow relative?

Can you post a screenshot of the hierarchy of the player? I followed your instructions and what you described didn't happen. The camera's x-position is 5000, but the parent's origin is still where it was originally (in the same location as the collider on it).

sorry i forgot to mention that the transforms are scaled so essentially the transform on the camera is 0.05. it seems to be a transform scale issue i also tried to let the parent object and camera object b scale 1 and scale the other children but it seems to break. the nearclip plane is set to 0.01
