Asset Store EULA 2.4
Hi there,
first a few words about my situation: My friend has an organization, I am a manager of it and we're working together on a project.
Now we would like to buy an editor extension from the asset store. What we've figured out already is that we need one license per seat (which is kind of obvious) and we need to buy these licenses for the organization. I'm travelling from time to time and therefore would like to install the extension on multiple computers (two at least).
The last point however seems to be prohibited by the Asset Store EULA, section 2.4, saying that every license can only be installed on one computer. I researched this topic already, but there are still some things unclear to me. My questions are:
Is it really that way? If yes:
Would buying more licenses solve the problem or is this limited due to the fact that one account can only have one license?
How would this work for the owner? Could he see on which computer this license is in use?
What would happen if I lost access to my PC, would I be able to get the license back?
Is there a possible "work around" which doesn't violate anything but makes multiple installations possible?

Yes that is how I have also interpreted the EULA, with one exception. You are not allowed to install on several computers, there is no functionality in place to prevent you from doing so that I have noticed. There is no installation step or in-editor code redeeming or anything like that. We should all be very grateful for this as I suspect e.g. upgrading unity versions, version control and many other things would be a lot more clunky if this were not the case. So I really hope that people honour the license so that Unity do not feel compelled to introduce such functionality.
Just buy as many licenses as you need to use. Stay honest.

Not a problem since there is no DRM in place. So stay honest so we can keep it this way :)
As I understand the EULA the number of people using the asset needs to have it licensed. I guess that if one of you work on the project at a time, that person could be using the license. But I am not a lawyer and this is just guessing from my side.
Right. Editor extensions seem to be a bit different than the Unity license itself. The Unity license (personal , plus or pro) allows you to install Unity on up to two computers as long as both are operated by one person. So the license is basically bound to a person and grants usage on two computers. Editor extensions seem to be bound to actual computers / machines.
Though i think that they just want to prevent any kind of "sharing". If you use that extension from two different PCs which exclusively belong to you and you only use one PC at a time i think that would be fine.
Yeah you're absolutely right. I wonder why they didn't just make the two licenses more similar to each other.

Not sure what you are talking about, there is no section 2.4, and Section 2.3 is quite clear:
2.3 EXCEPT FOR EDITOR EXTENSION ASSETS, END-USER is granted a license to install and use Assets on an unlimited number of computers provided that these computers are either all (i) physically located at a single physical location ("Site") belonging to END-USER, or (ii) laptops belonging to END-USER which have been made available by END-USER to its employees that are employed at the same Site provided all such computers have appropriately licensed Unity software installed. Consequently, any Asset may only be used at particular Site or on computers assigned to END-USER's employees employed at the same Site and may only be moved to another Site subject to prior written approval from Licensor. THIS CLAUSE 2.3 DOES NOT APPLY TO ASSETS THAT IN THE UNITY ASSET STORE ARE CATEGORIZED UNDER THE HEADING "EDITOR EXTENSIONS."
Basically only "Editor Extensions" need per-user licenses, and it shown on the Asset Store clearly because the system allows you to buy more licenses only for those assets.
You've missed the last sentence in the part you have quoted. This clause applies to editor extension assets (whatever that means in particular). However it clearly says that this clause does not apply to assets with the heading "EDITOR EXTENSIONS".
Also there is a section 2.4 in the Appendix 1. It currently says:
Editor Extensions: END-USER is granted a license to install and use any Assets which are categorized in the Asset Store as "Editor Extensions" only on one (1) computer. For the avoidance of doubt, Editor Extension Assets are licensed on a per computer basis may not be shared or used concurrently on different computers.
There's also a clause 2.5, 2.6, 2.7, 2.8 and 2.9 but they are not relevant here.
