Cannot Edit Blender Model Prefab in Unity
I've imported a Blender model into Unity and I would like to remove some components from the Blender model prefab. But I can't edit the prefab for some reason. The prefab is grayed out and the only things I can edit are it's import settings. Is the model prefab uneditable?
When a model is imported, the file created in the project view is not a prefab. They are two very different things.
Then why in the inspector are there import settings and an imported object which is a prefab?
You cannot edit imported models in Unity. Unity has no native function for modeling, short of the scale. If, and only if, the model imported has separate parts, you can delete any of those parts that you choose. If it is all one mesh, you cannot modify it an any way, other than scale stated above.
Yes I know that you can't edit the model itself. I want remove components like the animator attached the Blender model in the inspector.
On the Import settings, press the Rig and Animations buttons at the top. Otherwise, take a screenshot.

You just drag the model into the game scene, make the changes you want then drag the model back into the prefab. Hope that helps. :)
As already stated in the question, the OP doesn't actually have a prefab. He could however make a new one using the method you described. Although this could solve the OP's problem it doesn't answer the actual question ;)
