Keeping track of a bunch of objects in a 3D grid
So I'm creating a 3D Tetris type game, and I've been exploring the best way to keep track of where blocks are in the 10x10x10 grid that I've created. I need to be able to detect if there's something below a block that is moving down, track which slots have been taken to destroy a row when full, etc.
So I'm thinking of storing all of the data in a multi-dimensional array, but I've read a few posters on here recommend Dictionaries as well. Are there overhead concerns for one or the other with a grid that's basically 1000 units big? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
