Question by Joeltron · Jan 27, 2017 at 11:21 PM · unity 5buildbuild settingsbuild error

Is there a way to force unity to build the project the same everytime?

ive built my game, setting the resolution to 768x512, set it to build to a non resizable window, and have fullscreen unchecked.

So i made a developmental build, to test it all out, made some minor adjustments and made a new build. The second build worked properly, except that i forgot to change the "Product Name". So i change it to what i want to the game titled (Escape Earth), and then build, for whatever reason its larger than what i told it to be. So i did a new built with some random letters for the name, just as a test. It worked. So I build it again, only changed the product name (from a jumble of letters to Escape Earth), this time the build automatically runs in full screen. So i rebuild it again, and this time, its larger than its supposed to be.

So i change the name again (a google search has said this helps unity think its a new program and will "remember" the new settings) and build it, and it works fine, sized right etc, except that its named a jumble of letters. So i make no changes at all besides changing the product name (back to Escape Earth), and for some reason it goes full screen again. So now ive gone back and forth renaming, making sure the default screen width and height are set to what i want, and that "default is fullscreen" is unchecked, yet when i name the game something other than a jumble of letters, the build is not correct. I guess a simple workaround would be to just throw in a jumble of letters instead of the title. But that seems dumb.

So, does anyone know how to make Unity build the same project the same way everytime? I just want it to build my game at 768x512 in a non resizable window.

im using Unity 5.5.0f3

The graphics quality setting last used is one of the player preferences, which are saved and identified according to the bundle name of the build.

So every time you create a new randomly-named build you're creating a brand new set of preferences. But if you name it the same as a previous build, you're loading the quality settings last used.
