Question by brightismad · Dec 22, 2010 at 02:35 AM · animationfbx3dsmax

export simple animation from 3ds max 2011

I found this tutorial http://www.bleepng.com/blog/2009/05/...tion-tutorial/

It worked fine with maya but there is some issue when I tried to export it from max 2011. The animation does not play. There is no animation in Unity. Some help as to how to export from max and import into unity. There are no bones just simple animation.

Thanks

Is the animation playing in $$anonymous$$ax's timeline? Are you importing .max or fbx?

Yes we are using max's timeline. We are importing with the newest version of fbx?

Does the animated object simply disappear when you go into play mode?

No, the object is there, the animation just won't play. Were using Unity 1.7. We tried it in Unity 3 and it works fine, but we need to get it working in 1.7.

-Thanks

If it works in unity 3 but not in 1.7, it could be that unity 1.7(which I have no acquaintance) does not support your latest fbx version. In $$anonymous$$ax you have an option to export FBX 2011, 2010,..., so choose an old version, and see what happens. Also, make sure to check export animation (of course) checkbox in the Animation section.
