Hello,
I am collecting some information for academic affairs. Can you help me? Answer the following questions:
How often does the engine get updated?
How you classify the support of the engine? Feel free to talk about your own experience.

Your first question is kind of O$$anonymous$$ for Unity answers, even though there's not a fixed time between updates. DaDonik answer is a good answer.
Your second question should be on the forum. From the FAQs:
Unity Answers is a place for questions that can be answered! Avoid asking questions here that are subjective, argumentative, or require extended discussion.
Unity Forums is a place for discussions, opinions, showing off your work, getting feedback, and general community chatter.
1) Just check the list of releases. There can also be minor patch releases, in case something is really messed up.
2) Support is mainly user driven, at least if you do not pay for support. The documentation is one of the best i've seen in my career as a professional programmer and the amount of 'google-able' material is immense. Imo it's the engine that is best suited for newcomers, at least if 'real' programming should be part of the experience.
