Help trying to understand batching
I am trying to understand how batching works in Unity. I set up a very simple scene with 5 sprites and gave them all the packing tag "Batch" in Import Settings.
I then dragged them onto the scene and marked all 5 sprites as "static". The 5 sprites all use the "Sprites-Default" material.
From what I understand Unity should now use static batching for those 5 sprites and render them all in 1 draw call. But when I press the play button and look in the statistics it says "Saved by batching: 0".
This is very confusing to me and I would love it if someone could explain to me why or if I am doing something wrong. Thank you in advance!
