How to schedule responses (based on player's input text) for text adventure game?
Sorry if this is badly explained, I don't really have any background in coding but I'm making a short text adventure game. Basically the player inputs text and there's output text in response. So far I can enter text in the input section, press enter and it'll go to the output section.
What I need to figure out is how to schedule a response based on the text the player inputs. I found stuff about String and Boolean doing this but I don't know how I'd set that up. For Boolean most of the examples were for integers instead of text and much more complex but based on what I saw I would do something like this -->
If player inputs "north" say "you see a poster"
If player inputs "east" say "you see a radio"
Else say "nothing here"
Does anyone know if this would work? If so, how do I write it out? If not, is there another way to do the same thing?
PS: I know there are probably easier platforms to do this on, or since I basically know nothing about coding, I probably shouldn't be doing something so complex in the first place but I'd really like to figure this out so thanks for the help
