After Unity update, Reimporting Assets takes ages.
I need help here, I just updated Unity 4 to 4.1.2 and its taking ages, it all went fast until it reached the Maya files section for example Bread.mb 1.3MB, Stone (Bronit1).mb 86 KB. It takes like 30 minutes per file, doesn't matter what size. I have like over 200, at this rate it will be done in 100 hours or 4.17 days. What shoud I do to make it faster? I've got an i7, 3.5 GHz, 16 GB Ram, 660 GTX 2GB. I already have the fastest computer, why is it so slow? And why does it have to reimport for just updating. I don't have time to wait 4 days, I want to get back to work.
I'm not sure to manual shut down the program, restart, or take all maya stuff out and then start and add maya stuff manually, might break the program I written, and then I'll have to start all over since all the models are missing. I'm not sure what to do.
David
P.S. Most Models were created with Maya 2013, some with Maya 2014. If it has anything to do with Maya Model import.
Whatever you decide, BAC$$anonymous$$UP before you begin!

Since Unity 4.3, Reimporting is a snap, only takes like a minute or so and not 4 days.

Even changing the name of one of the files can cause Unity to bog down updating a project, or tossing a texture into the Assets folder. The only thing I can think of would be to remove anything you won't be using. There should be a script or something that could put aside all Assets not being currently used, or a method of optimizing a project so adding something will be quick.
