extreme lag upon touching round surfaces
Hi, I made a model of a house in google sketchup and i exported it as an .fbx file and then imported it in unity. Then I added my first person controller and it seemed to work just fine. The collisions with the floor and the walls worked perfect, but as soon as I touched for example the garbage bin it gave me extreme lagspikes with maybe an fps of 1, also every other collision with not just straight surfaces seemed to cause my game to lag. Also as soon as i didn't touch the object anymore the lag stopped instantly.
I couldn't find anyone with the same problem so i am asking it here.
thanks in advance.
Are you using a generated mesh collider? They can be very inefficient for meshes with lots of polys. Try generating your own from primitives if so...
what exactly are primitives? i can't find it in the manual.
and right now i am using the mesh collider that you get when you press "generate colliders" upon drag-and-dropping the model into the scene.
I think he's suggesting that you build your own colliders out of simple box/sphere/capsule colliders rather than using mesh colliders that fit the objects perfectly.
Using simple colliders like these is not nearly as hard on your performance. The try giving your garbage bin a simple box collider that approximately fits it, rather than using a mesh collider that perfectly fits it.
I know this is gonna sound dumb but Is your PC or laptop at least 2 GHZ and has about 3 G of RA$$anonymous$$?
