Lauch Unity Editor on Linux

Question

Hello!

I try to launch Unity Editor on linux Ubuntu 11.10 on last wine. I get this error: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7899634/trouble.png

Maybe someone can help me?

Hi there,

I'm able to run Unity Editor 4.0 on Windows 8 Professional running as Guest on my VirtualBox 4.2.4 installed on my Gentoo Linux. It runs pretty smooth. I tried the same on the windows 7 but it always crashes when I try to open Unity Editor. Apparently VirtualBox has a better support for Windows 8.

I hope this news can be handy for anyone.

I believe you may need to set Dropbox to recognize the H drive as a drive controlled by Wine...

Unity Technologies still do not provide a Unity Editor for Linux, but it can still be run on Linux using Wine. See the community set up wiki page - http://wiki.unity3d.com/index.php/Running_Unity_on_Linux_through_Wine

Otherwise you may set up a Mac or Windows Virtual Machine on Linux to run the Unity Editor.
