Blender Export Problems
I'm having a problem importing objects from Blender. I put the material and texture on the object and I save the Blender file in my project folder. The object goes in the scene fine with it's default silver material and then I try to add the material that was imported with its texture but the object becomes a plain color:red, brown, etc. Please help.
Can you describe the nature of your material some more. It is a plain material, is it reflective, specular ... Is a texture defined. What is the nature of the texture?
It is just a diffuse material. A png image for texture. I do not understand Blender completely. I can't find a tutorial for materials and textures in Blender. Just need someone to describe how to do this. Sorry for my stupidity.
Don't worry about your skills. They come with practice and time. For Blender tutorials, I tend to look here:
http://www.gryllus.net/Blender/3D.html
These have always covered everything I needed. Unless we are sure that the object modeled in Blender has the the correct material and texture applied, we can't be sure that the issue is importing into Unity. When you render the image in Blender, does it look "good" with both materials and textures? Have you done any "UV" mapping?
If yes to the above, then you will want to look at importing your PNG files as separate assets into your Unity project and then associating your newly created textures with the materials that match to the materials of your blender objects.
Also, have a good study at this tutorial:

Thank you for your advice. Sorry about posting that answer. Realized what I did and than posted the comment. The uv mapping is where I am going wrong. I make it use a uv map in the material settings but it gives me a box to put the uv map in. Thats where I am lost. Thank you for the links.
You propably hate to recalculate the normals:
Open Blender, load your model, switch to edit mode, select all vertices and then press ctrl+n or go to mesh-->normals-->Recalculate Outside. Then save and try again importing the model to unity. It should work then.
